Hacked Off? Hopefully Not.

I know very little about computers. Facebook. I do that. Youtube. I can manage that too. I know how to deal with email. I can upload my photos. Mostly though, what I do is write this blog, and I seem to manage to do that OK. Actually once you get going on those few things I just mentioned, it becomes almost self explanatory.

But I will let you in on a little secret: I do not know what to do if anything goes wrong! All I can do at times like that, is panic a bit and shout for help. Which is usually forthcoming in the shape of Steve, my long suffering neighbour.

The reason I mention my lack of knowledge is because it seems that someone is trying to hack into this blog. I know this because a big red warning sign has flashed up a few times telling me of a threat alert.
This is what I imagine the hacker to look like.

Mind you the message did also say threat averted. Which is a good thing of course. But hackers don't give up easily do they?

Maybe I'm being paranoid. Maybe I'm making too much of these warnings. But I heard recently of a very well established blog, with thousands of followers, that was shut down because of hackers, and another one where nasty comments were being made in some innocent persons name.

I suppose hacking is a hobby, and hackers must get pleasure from their hobby. But they must be a bit sick in the head if their fun is to upset other peoples innocent pastimes.

If the threat warnings are correct, and if this blog does get compromised to such an extent that it is ruined permanently I shall just start again elsewhere on blogger, under a different title.

Oh well, I'm probably worrying unnecessarily anyway. If it does happen though, how are you, dear reader going to know where to find me again? I haven't a clue!

If you have any suggestions, please let me know. In the meantime, hackers permitting, I'll be back soon.

  1. Just write down our blog adresses, then tell us about your reincaration.
Do you think the word 'reincarnation' in this comment might freak out a hacker,or do you think he/she/it will regard it as a call to home from the mother ship?

  2. I believe that hackers do try to sabotage popy=ular sites from time to time. I depend on Ratty to help me and it is not always easy because I imagine ghosties in many places.

  3. I can track you through FB. It amazes me that someone would be interested in people's personal blogs which are rather insignificant in the greater scheme of things. Cute pic.

  4. I never could understand the point of hacking into a blog. What possible gain can someone get from that.
If you have to close down this blog just stop by mine and let me know where you're moving to

  5. Funny drawing of what a hacker could look like!
This doesn't have anything to do with anything but I am going to ask you anyway...at the top there, on your header photo, you call yourself a simple man. So I just wondered if you know the song, "A Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd? It's a good song.

  6. I can also connect with you with Facebook.
It is strange that someone would try to "hack" your blog. Like...what are they after...your songs...dog...chickens...handsome son???

  7. Ooh, I hope they don't hack into your blog It is scary isn't it? I think the secret might lie in the type of password you choose, so choose something really hard to guess and not very obvious. Something long with numbers and letters. It is good to change passwords from time to time.

  8. Damned hackers, I'd hack them if I knew who they were. If you're concerned why not start a new blog anyway. All you have to do is tell us the new name. It could be fun. You could, of course, go private - giving only invited guests the opportunity to read your entertaining posts. As you know you can run more than one blog - which reminds me: what's happened to your scrapbook?

  10. I just don't understand why hackers would spend so much wasted time trying to hack blogs!

I suggest you change your password every few weeks until this issue is over, and I hope it will.
