Never Judge A Book By It's Cover.

Do you see that man over there? Yes him. Sitting on the bench. The unkempt character. The one with the unwashed clothes. Badly in need of a shave and a haircut. Him. Him. Drinking out of that beer can. Yes that's the one!

Well don't worry. He will not do you any harm. In fact if you ever need a friendly ear, he is the one to go to. He might not look it on first appearances, but underneath that rough exterior their stands a thoroughly decent man.

Now take a look at that man over there. Yes him. The smartly dressed one with the nice suit, and the leather briefcase. Can you see how shiny his shoes are? He is talking to that posh looking woman with the blue hat. Just shaking her hand now. Smiling. Just waved goodbye to her. Yes that's him. Pillar of society he is. Does a lot for charity. Church elder.

Do not trust him. He is an evil bastard. He likes to hurt children.

  1. This story reminds me of a lorry driver I met once. I was parked up on a lorry park in Cardiff, a driver came over and asked if I fancied going for a drink later. He was the scruffiest bod you would walk straight past if you saw him in the street. It was on the tip of my tongue to say no thanks. But then I thought, he has been on his own all day and probably wants a bit of company, so I said yes. It was a brilliant night out, lots of laughs, a couple of pints. I'm glad I went.

  3. Hah! You've stirred an old memory. When our families were just starting out, my friend Ernie drove truck for a periodical distributor. All surplus paperbacks and magazines had their covers torn off before dumping. He'd bring some over --often best-sellers-- and we learned it was impossible to judge them by covers --they hadn't any-- only by content.

  4. Unfortunately, looks can be extremely deceiving. Beware of the smiling, smartly dressed man in the suit and shiny shoes.

Lizzie Borden smiled so sweetly and acted so demure that the jury aquitted her.........

  5. And the smart church going types think that their dirty deeds will be OK after Sunday when they have been to church to repent. It's all an illusion! Come Monday they still stink!

  6. Makes me think of some blogs where all you see is women with full make up wearing nice clothes doing pretty things in magazine homes.

  8. It seems obvious that we should take each person on his/her own merits rather than what they look like. Unfortunately it seldom happens.
