Sadie The German Shepherd. An Appreciative Audience Of One.

I tried to play this tune all the way through, to demonstrate how I'm progressing with the penny whistle. Things didn't go according to plan though and the result was this disastrous attempt.

My co star Sadie the German Shepherd tries to look as though she's not enjoying it. Mind you she has had to listen to me practicing for the last month. She did give me her seal of approval at the end though, which from her, means a lot.
Anyway it's just a bit of fun so I have put it on youtube for your delectation and delight. The tune is called 'I see Mull' or 'Land of my youth'. I can actually play it all the way through, honest. No really I can!

I've come back to do a bit of an edit because I have just noticed that Bonnie the cat is in the video too. She is in the tree behind Sadie. That's nice isn't it? Obviously another fan!

  1. Well Sadie was very patient. I watched for the cat the whole video, and she showed up in the last 2 seconds! My bagpiper friend also plays the penny whistle. He says the fingering isn't the same. I think that would be TOO confusing.

  2. You had a captive audience for your splendid performance. I know Duke never would have sat through the whole thing for me.

  3. It wasn't THAT bad, a few sour notes here and there... hey I'll give you a break, your still learning. I've always wanted to play some kind of instrument, but never knew what, now I know... I want a penny whistle! My kids and grandkids all learned how to play one in school and if they can learn how to play one, I can too!

I'll let ya know when I find one. :)

  4. She's a patient listener, I'll say that. Rather like your shirt, too.

  5. You are getting there. A little more practice and you will be ready for open mike night. The fence with the overgrowth is gorgeous.

  7. Sadie is a terrific audience. A round of applause was the only thing missing. She even gave you a standing ovation...of sorts.

  8. Charming video and wonderful audience! The only time my cat, Maukie, is a helpful audience is when I am deciding on outfits... His stink-eye is both intimidating and helpful!

  10. See, it pays to read text before watching videos. I missed Bonnie first time round and had to watch it again. Oh the things I do to please my blogging friends. Anyway, I quite liked the penny whistle and I'm sure Sadie did too 'cause I didn't see her covering her ears. Have a nice day, John.
