Grandpa smoked a pipe. He never smoked cigarettes and if someone gave him a cigar he would put it in the bowl of his pipe to smoke. Usually his tobacco was Prince Albert but once in a while he had a nice cherry blend. Both smelled so good. From smoking a pipe for so many yeas his teeth wore down so the stem fit right in them. Whenever I smell pipe tobacco I think of Grandpa.
That was possibly the best impromptu soliloquy on changing times I've ever heard. Bravo, John. I too have tapered off into an occasional pipe-smoker in recent years --especially since California quit selling Prince Albert. I have to order from "Tobacco Central" in Illinois and it takes a week and a half to get here. So, although no longer a regular smoker, sometimes I still need to head for the pump house for nicotinic meditation.
