Dragonflies And Damselflies.

I thought you might be interested to see the wildlife pond. It was made by my Extremely Handsome Son George four years ago.

A bit disappointing that we have had no frogspawn or toadspawn this year. I am a bit mystified by this as there are definitely frogs and toads about. There are plenty of common newts and EHS George has seen at least one Great Crested Newt which is on the endangered list.

Here are some photos taken two days before the video. This shows how quickly the water lily's come into bloom.
Irises.

Who is that in the undergrowth? Why, it's EHS George! Something to do with tadpoles.

Broad-Bodied Chaser. Male. The female has a yellow body.

  1. Thanks for the update on the pond. It now looks so natural... like it has been there forever. EHS George did a fantastic job. Dragonflies are incredible creatures. Those delicate wings don't look like they are useful for anything except being pretty.

  2. I remember when my pond looked like that, sadly it has been neglected in recent years. I used to love watching the action until a heron decided he liked fishing! I think that was when we stopped caring!

  3. Lovely pond. I would love one like that. Did it get the flowers and dragonflies etc. naturally or did you help them along? I managed to get some dragonfly pics last time I saw some, about 10 days ago, but i think they were too occupied with each other to care about me and my camera.

    1. The dragonflies arrived naturally Jenny. George has added some native plants around the pond margins.
